Simple joys of life
I haven’t been able to sit down, focus and write. Multiple distractions have wrapped me with layers of thoughts all over my mind. Neither I had time for retrospection nor I wanted to make time for it. I just wanted to gaze at nothing yet eyes were completely fixated on something. It was hazy and blurry. I was caught in a maze of vulnerability and despair where everything looked meaningless. I didn’t want to be consoled yet I wanted someone to say that everything will be fine. While I was wrestling and struggling with my innumerable thoughts, I chanced upon a few lines by Gordana Biernat which came as a ray of sunshine and hope for the simple joys of life.
Close your eyes,
do not speak.
Can you hear the silence?
Be still
Breathe in…and…out.
You are an ocean of
infinite consciousness.
Do not confuse yourself
with your beliefs.
Thoughts and feelings
come and go.
YOU remain.
Whatever you are and have is ‘now’, there is no guarantee for tomorrow. Your problems, your misery, your smile, your words, your love, your hugs, your gestures – all for today. Let’s not go on to the details of ‘why me and whys’. Let’s live life as the joy you get in the motion of a swing. When the gentle breeze touches your face, you get all giddy and then it reaches your hair, you lift your feet up in the air forgetting where you came from. Life with its simple pleasures – The magic of joy in a baby’s scribbling, the pride in a kid’s face when she wear’s the Elsa dress. Life is the amazing feeling you get when you put your head in your mother’s lap, the joy when your father puts his hand on your head and say everything will be fine. The pleasures of missing your siblings when you are apart and realising that you only missed the fights when you are together. The simple joys of friendship which touches you with warmth and gives you hope for the rest of your life. Life is in the simple and extraordinary feelings of safety and warmth you get in your loved one’s arms and you fall asleep.
Much love
