Let’s put our phones aside and reflect on our day

Let’s put our phones aside and reflect on our day

It’s wonderful to slide into the bed with a grateful and thankful heart. However, most of the time we rush into bed, set the alarm on and check the last minute updates on our phones. By the time you realise, it’s already half an hour and you are still flicking in between Instagram and facebook or twitter.  Does it sound familiar? Sometimes, we get so riveted in the updates on social media that after a while it’s the phone light that puts us to sleep. I want you to take a moment for yourself. Put your phones aside and reflect on your day.

‘It’s the simple things in life that are most extraordinary’ (The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho). So let’s try simple ideas of reflection.

Any particular smell that made you inhale the air one more time today?

Anything tasty that played with your taste buds?

Any memory that made you want to go back?

Any song that made you croon along?

Anything that blew your mind away?

The beautiful weather that made you take a deep breath

A glass of water

Stumbling upon  a T shirt that you were looking for ages

What made you smile today?

While going out for lunch yesterday, a simple mustard paste had an extraordinary affect on me. My daughter opened the mustard bottle and was blown away by it’s strong aroma. Have you tried that?  It was so strong that I couldn’t help but dig into the mustard. I took a few pieces of chips and   swiped it into the mustard. I ate a big chunk of chips covered with mustard. Initially it was all fine but within a few seconds, the mustard hit me on the back of my head. It was that strong! It was an unbelievable experience. I asked my husband to try.  To be honest, I wanted to see his reaction as he gets really competitive with me. To my surprise, he had the same reaction as I had and there was no hiding. It was all evident:-) It hit the back of his head. It made me laugh because he was not trying it again. While reflecting on my day, this particular thought made my laugh.
