1. Tell us a bit about yourself?

Jewellery Designing

Well, I’m obsessed by Jewellery that’s for sure hehe, but on a serious note, my background is that I studied Business at university followed by a a Law Conversion. I know, shock horror you might wonder well how on earth could you possibly take such a drastic unrelated turn? We will come to that in a minute. I was born and bred in London until 5 years ago, my husband and I moved all the way south to Plymouth for work and a year later we moved all the way up to Newcastle and have been here ever since, but in essence, Zenobia Jewels was born in Plymouth! So five years on and a four year old son later, Zenobia is still alive and kicking despite having the extra (big) responsibility of having a child (with lots of hiccups along the way).  I had many people deter me away from the idea of continuing with this pursuit once I became pregnant suggesting I wouldn’t have time anymore but all time and dedication has shown me is that if you really want something, nothing will get in your way. A primary example was when he was very small I used to live for his naps just so I could get working on more Jewellery pieces or photograph the completed ones! As time has passed, I now have plenty of time for my son after he comes back from school and that means mornings are for Zenobia to flourish! But ultimately, I never stop, even the sneaky late nights working because when you’re in the zone you can’t see the stop sign!

2. Your Eureka moment?
That’s a bit of a story. Probably driven from my passion for fashion plus being in Plymouth after having just moved away from everything and everyone I knew, this was my zing for change, so I took that opportunity to create something that I’ve always loved and been interested in, Jewellery! But not just any Jewellery, I’ve always loved plated custom jewellery that is affordable, yet still maintains its quality, not available on the high street and boasts one of a kind! At first, it was almost a hobby, there were a couple of charity fairs at Central London Hotels which were asking for exhibitors, so I got in touch with a friend who sources some unique pieces and became a buyer if you like. I attended the shows and Zenobia was a success twice in the space of a month. I got back to Plymouth and thought I want to do this, I want to make and create my own jewellery, not just sell someone else’s designs. That was my Eureka moment.

3. Did you have any formal training in Jewellery Designing?

Jewellery making requires concentration as the main focus plus knowing how and which tools to use. Who knew how many different styles of beads there were?! I took a course over some months whilst in Plymouth and loved it, I was married (no children yet) my husband was always working and I was enjoying every second of my new hobby. It was the perfect therapy!

4. What platforms do you use to promote your designs?
Well as you know the last decade has seen the biggest rise in social media so at the moment you can find Zenobia Jewels on Facebook Zenobia: Jewels of Arabia Instagram @zenobia_jewels and online www.zenobiajewels.co.uk which has only just been recently launched, it features a mini blog on how to style your jewellery with your wardrobe and of course our heavenly online shop which brings you over 75 pieces from our Autumn/Winter 2017 Collection! Lush!
6. Any recommendations for anyone looking into creating their own business
My advice on anyone looking to create your own business even just for hobby purposes is as long as you have the passion for it keep going, you will fail at times, some products aren’t always going to work which is ok and you can’t predict the future but that’s what drives you to think outside the box and constantly be driven to create new ideas and concepts that will keep your followers/customers interested! I wouldn’t be here 5 years later if I didn’t believe in myself and my products!
Lastly we are holding a 25% OFF event online www.zenobiajewels.co.uk for the entire Collection valid 15th and 16th November 2017. These kinds of discounts don’t come around very often for us but it’s my birthday and I want to celebrate so take advantage while you can!!
Hope you enjoyed reading about Zainab and Zainobia Jewels as much as I did. Thank you Zainab for sharing your journey with mumways readers. Please encourage this Jewellery designer with your kind words and sharing about her work with your friends. Also if this is your style, please avail the 25% off  online at www.zenobiajewels.co.uk for the next two days. If you want to know more or have any questions, please get in touch.
Much love
