First day at school

Yesterday was my daughter’s first day at school and I was buzzing like a bumble bee trying to fit in everything. Armed with my baby in one hand (dragging the buggy) and holding her little hand in the other, we marched ahead towards the school. I stopped to take some photographs in her beautiful school uniform. While focussing on her, I realised that she didn’t put on her hat properly. As she was so happy, I didn’t bother to correct it. Soon we were in front of the reception area where many little girls were already waiting. I felt nostalgic, reminiscences of my son’s first day at school came all over me. ¬†Just then a kind parent came up and adjusted my daughter’s hat and I came back to the present. In a couple of minutes, we were standing next to her class. She went in and I followed her. She said, ‘bye mummy.’ I thought, ‘that’s it?’ But then she came back to me and said, ‘I forgot to kiss you and baby’. She kissed me and her baby brother all over. It felt just right. She went in to the able hands of her teachers, to a world of her own, to a new window of learning and to create beautiful memories with her friends.¬†

Not so long ago,

It was my son

Not so long ago

I walked my son to school

Not so long ago

I wondered if he would cry

Not so long ago

I thought I had enough time

Not so long ago

‘is not really that long’

I pondered as I walked my daughter to school today.

They grow up so quickly. Yesterday when they fell asleep, I wondered if I had given them enough sloppy and slurpy kisses, snuggled them with cuddles and talked gibberish and laughed and laughed. Here’s a tight hug to all of you! Here’s to the kids’ first day at school!

Much love
